LionVPN for Linux

Choose one of six Linux amd64/ARM64 packages or four OpenWrt firmware-specific packages. This is a release candidate with an Ed25519-signed manifest, not production repository signing. Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and TVs connect through a configured gateway; changing DNS alone is insufficient.

Privacy

No server IP display

The CLI lists regions and account state without exposing raw server IPs to the user interface.

Supported Linux environments

The current desktop Linux release is intended for amd64 and ARM64 systems that use systemd. Choose the package format that matches the distribution, then use the LionVPN CLI to log in, list regions, connect, and verify status.

Install with verification first

Download the package from lionvpn.com, verify the SHA256 checksum or signed checksum file, then run the installer. The service runs as peervpnd and the current user should be added to the peervpn group before running the CLI.

OpenWrt gateway for Xbox and game consoles

Xbox, Apple TV, smart TVs, and other consoles do not install LionVPN directly. With a compatible OpenWrt router, the router runs LionVPN and devices use the router LAN IP as their gateway and DNS path.

Current OpenWrt packages target x86_64 and aarch64_cortex-a53 (Redmi AX6000), for 24.10.2 IPK or 25.12.0 APK
Typical x86_64 devices include Intel N100, N5105, J4125, J1900 soft routers, mini PCs, and OpenWrt VMs
Match both firmware and package architecture; older ARMv7/MIPS builds are not part of this RC

OpenWrt requirements before installing

Check firmware and architecture before installing. Use opkg on 24.10.2 or apk on 25.12.0. The router needs TUN, nftables, ip-full, CA certificates, and enough writable overlay storage. APK outer packages are not repository-signed; verify their SHA256 and RC manifest independently.

On 24.10.2 use opkg print-architecture; on 25.12.0 use apk --print-arch
Required packages: kmod-tun, nftables, ip-full, and ca-bundle
Recommended free overlay space: at least 80 MB before installing and connecting

Workflow

How to use LionVPN

Install the current app, verify access on your real network, then choose the route or plan that fits your device.

Download and verify

Download the DEB, RPM, tar.gz, or matching OpenWrt IPK/APK package from the official website and confirm the SHA256 checksum matches the published value.

Install and enable the service

Install the package for your distribution, add your user to the peervpn group where applicable, then enable peervpnd with systemctl.

Log in and connect

Use password-stdin for login, inspect account and region availability, then connect and verify the protected route.

Use OpenWrt as a gateway

Use the package for the exact firmware and architecture, configure the gateway LAN and DHCP, and retain the default DNS listener 127.0.0.1:1053 behind dnsmasq. See the release README for installation and RC verification.

Is the LionVPN Linux client available today?

Yes. LionVPN 0.1.3-rc.1 is available as DEB, RPM, and portable tar.gz packages for supported amd64/ARM64 systemd distributions. Verify this RC on the target device before relying on it.

Which Linux systems are supported?

The current package targets Ubuntu 22.04/24.04, Debian 12, AlmaLinux/Rocky/RHEL 9/10 on amd64/ARM64 with systemd; target-device validation is required.

Does the Linux CLI show VPN server IP addresses?

No. The CLI is designed to show account state and available regions without exposing raw server IPs in the user-facing command output.

Can I use LionVPN with Xbox?

Yes, through a compatible OpenWrt router gateway. Xbox does not install LionVPN directly; configure the router, then set the Xbox gateway and DNS to the router LAN IP.

Which router architectures are included in this RC?

This RC provides x86_64 and aarch64_cortex-a53 (Redmi AX6000). Select IPK for OpenWrt 24.10.2 or APK for 25.12.0. Older ARMv7/MIPS packages remain historical downloads, not current RC targets.
